What Anthony Martial Allegedly Said When He Was Substituted Against Arsenal

Anthony Martial could be in hot water with his Jose Mourinho after he allegedly swore at the Manchester United boss when substituted in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Arsenal.

United closed the gap at the Premier League’s summit on neighbours Manchester City to five points, although Pep Guardiola’s side play on Sunday against West Ham, ahead of next week’s Manchester Derby.

A Jesse Lingard brace, one of which Martial assisted, and Antonio Valencia’s early strike were enough to secure the points, although a superb display from David de Gea was particularly eye-catching.

Yet it turned sour when Martial was withdrawn after 67 minutes. The young French international was clearly unhappy with Mourinho’s decision so, after a little handshake between the pair, he reportedly called his boss a “puta”.

As a fluent Spanish speaker, Mourinho will have known exactly what that will mean. Perhaps as he also speaks French, Martial didn’t want to swear in his native tongue. Either way, these reports are yet to be confirmed.

The Red Devils will be without Paul Pogba when they face City next week after their record signing was sent off for a challenge on Hector Bellerin.
